Kat Hollerbach, BS Psychology,CPLC Parent Coach & Educational Consultant
My name is Kat Hollerbach.
I am a devoted wife and mother to 5 sons in a neurodiverse family.
I spent most of my early and middle childhood in a home that was strict with little room for mistakes. Corporal punishment was the norm. My confidence, self-worth, and feeling like I belonged were non-existent.
I married young and had my first son at age 24. I made a decision that I would not raise him, and his brothers that followed, in a home where they were not valued and their voices did not matter.
I would not repeat the cycle.
It would stop with me.
I have experienced childhood trauma, the loss of a parent in childhood, parenting through a divorce, single parenting, and financial struggles. I have also experienced joy, healing, growth, knowledge, adaptability, resilience, and peace.
My goal is to raise emotionally healthy individuals that will experience parenting in a supportive, responsive, gentle, and safe environment and help others reach the same goal.
If we, as parents, put forth the effort to unlearn and relearn how to be the adult we needed growing up, our children won't have to.
I’ve been where you might be at this moment.
I see you.
Providing support, skills, strategies, and techniques to adults who want to facilitate positive change in their relationship with their children through psychology, the language of the nervous system, and responsive parenting practices.
After spending two decades implementing responsive and intentional parenting practices with my children, I am honored to share what I’ve learned with other parents, caregivers, and those who work with children and teens.
In my parenting journey, I have been through the joys and challenges of infancy and toddlerhood. The early childhood stage when children are asserting independence and learn to explore the world around them outside of the home. Middle childhood, which can be tricky due to social pressure and longing for independence. The teenage years, when many of the experiences of adolescence place focus on peers and the growth of self-image and decision-making. I’ve also experienced the challenges of early adulthood and the pressures and responsibilities of becoming an adult with my eldest children. My coaching approach isn't focused solely on what I’ve read, but in addition to what I've lived.
You are not alone.
In addition to parenting experience, I have completed my undergraduate degree in general psychology and am currently finishing my Masters in Educational Psychology.
I have completed five separate life coaching certifications, Cognitive Behavior Coaching certification, and currently working on a Applied Educational Neuroscience certification at Butler University.
I enjoy working with parents and educators to help with challenging areas in behavior and communication. I have witnessed positive results through many consultations and the implementation of strategies specific to each relationship due to my expertise and knowledge of human development, stress management, regulation strategies, nervous system care, and responsive parenting practices. I also have a background in working with parents of neurodivergent children and common behaviors associated with specific neurotypes. Through experience, I can help identify communicative-associated behaviors and help pinpoint specific unmet needs that the behaviors represent.
My coaching practices are not “child-fixing” strategies. Children aren’t broken and don’t need to be fixed. Children of all ages are constantly learning from their environment. Many of the unwanted behaviors that parents ask for help with are learned behaviors. What if I told you that by changing our behavior and communication, we are changing the entire dynamic of our relationship with them and how they respond to us for the better?
I provide coaching in the following areas:
I am an INFJ and Enneagram 6.
I'm obsessed with love languages.
I love nature and would live outdoors if I could.
I remodel rooms in my house as a form of self-care.
I do not particularly enjoy shopping.
I rarely wear shoes in the summer.
I can sing some children's songs backward.
I still have a baby tooth.
